Chapter 1 Family dinner.

I'm sitting on the grass outside in front of my house. I'm playing in the sprinklers because it's really hot outside. My dad is washing his car. Hosing off whatever soap is left on it. Mom walks out onto the patio and waves "hey, sweet heart do you need anything." "No honey." My dad calls out then goes on to say "go finish up what you were doing I'm almost done, we'll be right in." "Okay dear." My mom shouts before heading back inside. My house has a concrete walkway in the center of the front yard and on the patio has a single step leading up to it and a porch swing.

My house isn't big but I'd say it looks nice. My parents and I don't seem to have a lot but I'm happy with the little we have! Me and dad head in and moms there waiting for me with a towel. "Come on let's get you all taken care of." she says. She helps me pick out some clean and dry pajamas to wear before brushing and braiding my hair. "Have you picked out an outfit you want to wear for picture day at school tomorrow?" My mother ask. "Yes, see!" I held up a floral flower dress up to my chest and twirled around with it. She smiled and told me to come downstairs to eat before bed. As I was headed down stairs when I heard my parents fighting about money again. They were scared we were going to lose the house. "I work three jobs I already barely ever get to spend time with you or Bunny, what exactly do you want me to do here. Huh!?" "Let me work!" My mom yells. "And who's going to watch Bunny! You think I'm gonna trust somebody else watching over our little girl while we're both busy working?!" My mother now screaming, "What other choice do we have?!" "No." "Just no". My father says.

They both looked up and notice me standing on the staircase. Then giving eachother a glance before turning their attention back to me. "Bunny sweetie, how long have you been standing there." mother asked. I just shrugged my shoulders and countined walking to the kitchen table. On the table were three plates filled with greens, protein, and sliced bread. Dinner was kind of awkward, I suppose it was because they were fighting. Dad tries to break the silence and asks "well, are you excited for school tomorrow? Sounds like a big day?" "Yeah, I'm excited to see my friends and how their pictures are going to turn out." I said. My dad smiled as he went to take a drink out of his glass. As he was about to swallow I shouted, "Are we going to be okay?" My father looking like he was about to spit out his drink swallowed hard picked up his napkin wiped his mouth and said "You don't have to worry about that." My mother looks at me then reaches out to touch my hand "darling, everything is going to be fine. Are you done eating?" While looking at my plate and noticing there isn't much left on it. "Yes mom. If you would excuse me but I'd like to go to bed now." "That's fine darling, off to bed then." I then bolt up the stairs jump in bed eager for to day to just end. I hate seeing my parents look so worried.
