Chapter 1 The Beginning.

Black stiletto heels clicked on magnificent marble floors of the office lobby strolling straight towards an attractive brunette who was busy reading a magazine. The brunette's blue orbs dismissed the page she was currently observing and looked up at the woman coming her way. Her eyes lit up with recognition, and her lips curled up into a smile.

Before her stood a beautiful mixed woman about 5'7 feet tall, dressed in a white bodycon dress that hugged her curvaceous body to perfection. She playfully flipped her long black curly hair styled to fall to the middle of her back in waves and batted her big hazel eyes that were adorned by long dark lashes as her maroon painted lips stretched into a winning smile, "Free at last!!"

The brunette excitedly flung from the chair and dropped the fashion magazine onto the table as she beamed at her friend, "Oh my God, Daeya, finally!!"

The two women giggled as they embraced one another.

"You truly are a cold woman, Daeya!" A man's disappointed voice stirred the women apart and brought their attention to a tall, dark man standing behind them. "I curse the day I took you from the slums you truly belong to!". His bleary red-shot dark eyes swirled with raw rage.

Daeya rolled her eyes, "I'm sorry, Martin. A heart is made to move on, you'll be okay soon. I promise."

"Bullshit!" He roared as he narrowed his eyes at his ex-wife, "no one deserves what you've done to me! Do you know how cruel is it to toy with someone's heart?!"

Daeya shrugged, "Could be worse. A heartless woman in my place would have poisoned you and whisked all your money away."

Martin bitterly chuckled as he shook his head before he held the woman's gaze again with outmost indifference, "You may think you've won now, but remember the world is round."

"Umm.. enough with the drama, you two! This is a private office, remember?" The brunette spoke up as she clasped her friend's hand, "We have to go!" She muttered to her friend.

Martin glared at the women as they turned around and started for the elevator; Daeya froze and slightly turned her head to meet her ex-husband's still penetrative gaze, "I wish you all the best, Martin." And with that, she joined her friend in the waiting elevator leaving the man staring at them with tears brimming his eyes.

Just like that, she walked away.

The drive was dominated by silence. The brunette heavily sighed before finally breaking the awkward silence. She briefly tore her gaze from the road ahead and looked at her quiet friend, "Are you alright?"

Daeya slowly nodded, "Yes." And sighed.

"I told you it wouldn't be pretty."

“But it was necessary, Mariah." Daeya looked up at her friend, who now concentrated back on the road, "Oh, his expression was heartbreaking!" Her palms came up to cover her face.

Mariah nodded. "As you said, It was necessary."

She sighed, "It was the only way for him to let me go. He has to realise that the world isn't fair; it wasn't with me."

"Well, at least you've got what you always wanted. Freedom and a new life." She briefly turned, "You know I'll always support you all the way."

Daeya smiled, "I know. There are only a few people in this world that can truly understand me, and I'm lucky you're one of them."

"Great. Now off with this negativity, we need to celebrate! You're officially back in the market, whooo!!" Mariah cheered.

She giggled, "Though I may be officially back in the market, I'm off limits! It's time to truly live my life."

"Time to live your dream, girl!" Mariah singsang.

"Uh-huh! So, how about we rock the beach and chill while we plan about tonight?" Daeya proposed.

"Sounds like a plan!" Mariah winked all smiles as she sped towards her apartment building.

A few hours later, Martin sat on his couch back at his house with a bottle half-filled with liquor. He briefly eyed the table in front of him then proceeded to scan his entire living room, taking in all the mess. It looked like a tornado hit, and empty whiskey bottles were everywhere. What a party! He was free again after all. Free, used and entirely broken. He had no faith in women anymore. They were nasty creatures, and his life is evidence enough!

He threw the bottle he had in his hands to the nearest wall and watched the intended impact with rage. "How could you, Daeya!" He slurred.

After all, he did for her in the name of love. That's what he only wanted from her, love. He believed in her. He transformed her to be better in life, and what did he get? Pain, heartbreak and humiliation. What did he do in his past life to suffer as much as he is in his current one?

His phone vibrated for the millionth time beside him, and he groaned. Can't they just leave him alone! He angrily grabbed it and picked it up without bothering to check the ID. "What do you want?" He spat.

"Martin! Thank goodness you finally picked up. Are you alright?" A worried woman's voice rang in his ear, and he frowned.

"Do I sound alright to you? What do you want?" He slurred out his words.

"You're drunk." The woman observed, "So she finally left you."

Martin paused to look at the caller ID, "Aunt Meg?"

"You need to stop drinking, Martin. It's not good for you. She's not worth it. Don't destroy your life because of that slut!" She uttered.

"It's too painful; I can't... I just can't...!" He broke down as his phone slipped from his hand and fell to the floor. His hands came up to cover his face as he cried.

"She'll pay for this," Meg muttered on the other side before disconnecting the call.

‘That bitch has no idea what kind of people she has just messed with.’ She bitterly thought to herself.

In a lively open kitchen, was a petite woman who was busy cooking different dishes for dinner a few hours from then. Her long black hair bounced on a high ponytail to her lower back as she slightly moved to the beat of the music playing on her phone. Her summer dress fit her well showing off her endowed backside as she stood barefoot facing the cooker, stirring away in her brewing pot.

"Mum!" A little blonde boy ran into the kitchen towards the woman and she gracefully turned around. She was pretty, with big light brown orbs and natural pinkish pucker lips.

"Yes?" She looked at her little boy.

"Cookie?" He looked up at his mother pleadingly with big puppy eyes that resembled her's so much.

Her face broke into a loving smile, revealing a set of deep cute dimples. She walked towards a nearby cupboard and retrieved a container half-filled with chocolate chip cookies, and offered one to her son. The boy happily accepted and hurriedly took a bite. "Now, what do we say when someone offers something to us?" She playfully asked.

The boy looked up, "Thank you!"

"Good!" She beamed before she slightly bent to lift her son and sat him up on the island. "Help yourself." She kissed his cheek and set the container beside him before sauntering back to her original spot.

Two hours later, everything was ready, and the table was set. She was about to retire upstairs to run a bath for her boy when the front door flew open, and a tall blonde man walked in. She ran to him and tried to help him by retrieving his briefcase. He pulled away with a frown before strolling past her towards the stairs.

"Hey, are you alright?" She inquired.

He didn't answer; he ignored his son on the way and sped up to his room. She sighed; clearly, that was normal of him in her book. She went to pick up her child and ascended the stairs to his room for a shower. After giving him a nice bath, she took him back downstairs with still no sign of her husband. She decided to feed her son and tuck him to bed before finally going to her room, where she found her husband busy typing away, already showered and dressed in his shorts and T-shirt.

"Wallace, can I have a moment with you, please?" She started.

He sighed and briefly turned his head to her side, "What?"

"Let's talk downstairs; the food is getting cold." She softly muttered.

A full minute passed before he finally responded, "I'm coming."

She nodded and left the room. She sauntered back to the dining room and sat at her usual position. Laying on the table beside her was a white envelope. She eyed it and heavily sighed. 'Better now or never’, she thought.

A few minutes later, Wallace strolled into the room and sat at his usual place. He served his own plate and started to dig in. His wife served a tiny portion for herself and slowly ate, but the food was tasteless in her mouth. She wasn't hungry but highly nervous.

"What do you want to talk about?" He broke the silence.

His wife looked up. Her eyes caught his cold grey orbs that once looked at her with warmth and affection. The same eyes she fell in love with a few years back. How could the same eyes that used to be her soul's sanctuary turn to be so void and emotionless towards her?

"Asia!"

That brought her back to reality. 'Hurry up, Asia, before it goes south again!' She thought. "I wasn't feeling quite well recently, so I decided to go to the hospital earlier today for a check-up." She muttered as her hand grasped the envelope and offered it to him.

He raised his brow and took it. He tore it open and unfolded the paper inside before his eyes started to observe the contents. His calm face slowly started to change.

"I'm six weeks pregnant." She announced.

An awkward silence dominated the room for the next seconds. With a deep frown on his face, Wallace abruptly stood up and walked to the nearest wall. He stared at it for a few minutes before his shoulders started to move as he lowly chuckled.

Asia rose from her seat and followed him. She stood facing his back and sighed, "I just thought you should know..."

Wallace turned around so fast and delivered a hot slap on her right cheek, "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" He angrily interrupted.

Asia's hand flew up to cover her bruised cheek as she stared at her fuming husband, her eyes brimming with painful tears whilst swirling with hurt and disappointment.

It looks like things were going terribly south today.
