Bolanle's dreams were simple. She just wanted to work as a bartender for a while and save up some money to start her fashion business. Things took the other way round when she fell in love with David. They made remarkable lovebirds until David traveled abroad and never came back. Bolanle was carrying his child.

Chapter 1 (The Onset)

"Bolanle, Bolanle, aren't you awake yet?" Grandma says as she opens the door to my room.

"Uh, Grandma, is it morning already? I said as I try to open my sleepy eyes.

"It's 6:45 am young lady" Grandma cautions.

"Uh really?.... I need to get ready for work" I said as I hurriedly jumped out of bed like I was about to be electrocuted.

"You better do" Grandma roars as she walks away.

I don't know I slept I sleep this long. I slept late last night though. I was seeing a movie and it didn't occur to me that I need to sleep.

I whisked into the bathroom. The normal Bolanle will take her bath for thirty minutes and she's still not done. I dare not pull such a stunt this morning, who will want to incur the wrath of Collins Daniel. That's my boss, the manager of the bar where I work. He has queried me twice this week, and my friend Ella is tired of covering up for me. I'll just have to sail through it all alone today.

I selected a blue gown from my closet, I haven't worn this in a while. I'll just slide myself into it. That's not the outfit I'd be working with though, I'll still have to change when I get to work. It's an annoying white T-shirt with a slightly baggy skirt. The work outfit makes me look like a retarded reverend sister.

I combed my long hair, uh, I didn't even apply a hair cream. Hurriedly, I slid my foot into my shoes, picked up my bag, and brisked out of my room.

"Grandma, did you make breakfast?" I asked as I go to the entrance of the kitchen where grandma was doing the dishes. "Yes, I made beans and pap," grandma said.

Uh, this is so unfortunate, grandma's beans always taste sumptuous, more like a wedding delicacy, and it I won't be able to have a taste of it. I'll be dead if I delay for another minute.

"Grandma, I can't wait to eat, I have to be on my way, I'm late already. I said, hurrying to the door.

"Oh, Omobolanle, I woke up early to make you breakfast. You're just about to render my efforts useless" grandma lamented.

"I'm sorry granny. I'll eat when I get back"

"Okay dear, take care of yourself. May the almighty God be with you" Grandma prayed.

"Amen, bye grandma. I love you" I didn't wait to hear her response.

*******

Some of you may perceive me as an over-pampered child, why, because I woke up without doing any house chores. And that's unlike any average Nigerian home. some of you may find it hard to know the reason why my granny pampers me like this.

What will you have the old widow do when I'm the only one who reminds her of her late daughter - my mother?

My mother died while giving birth to me. Growing up, I thought my granny was my mum until the day she broke the news to me. I felt so guilty because my existence claimed the life of my mother.

However, for once, I never felt like a motherless child. Grandma tried all her possible best to give me everything, even though things weren't easy for her. The only memory of my mum that I have is a few of her pictures.

I graduated from the University of Lagos with the first class in Business Administration. My major in school still doesn't put a hinge on my dream of owning a fashion brand.

Uhm, my father?

He left when I was two years old. According to my Grandma, he traveled in search of greener pastures. It's been 22 years now, and no one has heard from him, either he is dead or alive. I hate to think about him. Deep down my heart, I've declared him dead. He's good as dead for all I care.

Enough of the tales.....

I need to get to work.

I boarded a taxi. It was 8:30 am I alighted. I'm 30 minutes late.

"Collins will strangle me" I mutter to myself.

I walked into the five-star hotel. A hantle of customers was in already.

My friend, Ella is here already. I can't doubt her punctuality, unlike the impuctual Bolanle.

"Bola you're late. This is the third time this week" Ella said almost angrily.

"Uh, I'm sorry. I woke up behind time" I whispered.

"You'll explain that to Mr. Collins," Ella says as she shoots me a glare.

I stood still like a dingleberry, my mouth wide open in shock. Mr. Collins is gonna fire me, he's strict like a lion.

Ella severs me from my realm of thoughts and shock when she said "He asked of you and I lied that you already called, that you're on your way, but you got stuck in traffic"

"Oh, thank you so much bestie, I owe you one" I screamed as I pull Ella into a tight hug.

"You need to change Bola, I can't keep covering up for you all the time. Ella cautioned.

"Uh, Okay Ella. This will be the last time, I promise"

I went to the restroom to change into the official work attire.

*******

"Do you know that Mr. Henry Williams will be here today? Ella asks.

"No I don't know, I replied neutrally.

"He'll be here in a few hours, and you'll be the one to attend to him" Ella smirked. She knows how much I distaste being around these rich men.

"Uh Ella, why must it be me?" I asked angrily

"It Mr. Collins's instruction" she announced

"Oh, I see" I muttered.

Henry William is the CEO of Wills Tech Limited. A tech company based in Lagos. Women flock around him like ants around cholates, he has them at his fingertips. He's tagged to be a philanthropist by the majority, but I've always had my reservations about these young rich men. They think their money can get them anything.

Henry is a young smart and intelligent guy. His cuteness is what makes him irresistible to girls. His deep blue eyes shine like a star.

But I hate him. I don't know why.

**********

A few hours later, Henry arrives at Tis bar.

Ella saw him walk in with his security guards.

She taps me on the shoulder and said "Here he comes Bola"

"Who?" I growled.

"Mr. Henry. You better go take his order" she said anxiously.

I wonder why Ella is over the hills about this Henry of a guy.

I walked to the table where the spoilt brat was sitting with his legs crossed, staring at his phone.

"You're welcome Sir, should I get you your usual?" I asked while faking a smile.

"Uhm, yeah, get me my usual," he said, without even looking at me.

These rich guys can be extremely proud. Whenever he comes, his usual drink is tequila, missed with tangerine and vanilla. I went back to the bar stand. I served the drink and I was heading back to his table with a tray in my hands. Ella was just looking at him swoony.

Suddenly, I tripped and fell.

The tray in my hands shuddered, and the whole drink sloshes on Henry's clothes. His suit - badly littered with the drink.

"Uh, what is wrong with you?" Henry shouted.
