Bree Wells fell into the sea because of a car crash. When she woke up from the hospital, she had no memories. Only a handsome man who said he was her husband was beside her. Bree believed in him. So she devoted herself to protecting him from outsiders, supporting in his career, and taking good care of him. Though she had no memories, she fulfilled her duty as a wife excellently. However, on that day ...
A red sports car was speeding along the mountain road.
Bree Wells gripped the steering wheel.
Tears blurred her vision, and she wiped them away. The ring on her hand scratched her cheek, but it was not as painful as the wounds in her heart.
As the woman thought of what she had just seen in the garden, she shuddered all over.
Bree trusted and relied on her elder sister since they were kids. But the latter actually threw herself into Bree's fiancé's arms.
And it was the day before Bree's engagement ceremony!
In the sunlight, the perfectly cut diamond on the wedding ring shone brightly.
The ring was designed and made by Bree with all her joy and excitement, and it was her most satisfying work.
At this moment, the dazzling diamond seemed to be mocking her failure.
Bree plucked the ring but hesitated before throwing it out of the car window. The ring's edge pierced her palm as she clenched her fingers into a fist, but she was unaware of the ache.
Beep! Beep!
The shrill sound of a honk woke Bree up from her grief.
When she saw the oncoming truck, Bree's mind went blank for a moment, and she subconsciously slammed on the brakes.
The sensation of missing her step made Bree's pupils shrink, and she instantly broke out in a cold sweat.
As she was about to collide with the truck, Bree gritted her teeth and spun the steering wheel at full tilt.
Bang!
Along with the violent crash, the sports car ran through the guardrail and plunged straight into the sea.
"Bree!"
Amidst the pain, she heard her sister and Clive Spencer shouting at the top of their lungs. In the next second, the icy water submerged her limbs and seeped through her nose and mouth.
The dark, still sea was like a monster's mouth, and it seemed that no matter how hard she struggled, she could not escape being swallowed by it.
Bree thought inwardly, "It hurts!"
"It hurts!"
Every single cell of her body was crying out in pain.
....
On the vast sea, a yacht was tossing around leisurely.
Quentin Lloyd appeared on the deck with two glasses of red wine and handed one of them to Leo Lewis, who was standing in the breeze.
"You didn't hold back on your return. Hervey will get informed soon enough. Have you decided to take action this time?"
"Hervey has dominated the Corbyn Group for so many years, and it's time to take it back." Leo took a sip of wine and looked out to the sea with a deep and quiet look in his eyes.
"What do you want to do?" Quentin had a keen interest in the topic.
"I'm going to the US tomorrow to move the Abyss Group's headquarters to S City. After that, I will prevent myself from appearing on public occasions, so you'll be in charge of everything."
"Me?" Quentin was stunned. "Aren't you going to use the Abyss Group against Hervey?"
"If Hervey gets to know that I am the founder of the Abyss Group, he will not allow me to get the Corbyn Group even if he has to destroy it."
The Corbyn Group was built upon Leo's grandfather's painstaking efforts and the Corbyn Family's bedrock. Therefore, he had to take it back all in one piece.
"How are you going to take back the Corbyn Group without using the power of the Abyss Group?"
Quentin thought of something and furrowed his brows in disapproval while staring at Leo. "The shares Auntie Merilyn left you have been diluted so many times by Hervey Lewis that there's not much left."
"And according to Auntie Merilyn's will, you can't inherit the shares she left you until you get married."
Quentin's expression changed subtly. "Leo, you won't randomly marry someone to obtain Auntie Merilyn's shares, will you?"
Leo maintained an expressionless face. Quentin then got somewhat irritated.
"What's wrong with you? Even if you do get married, Hervey will be able to hold you back. Besides, where are you going to find a suitable woman to marry in such a short period?"
Quentin knew Leo too well. Once the latter made up his mind, there was nothing anyone could do to change it, and that was why Quentin became anxious.
While Quentin was trying to convince Leo to change his mind, Leo's expression suddenly changed as he looked at the sea not far away.
Leo jumped off the deck and jumped into the sea before Quentin realized what was going on.
What was the matter?
Quentin was stunned, following Leo's direction, and immediately saw an unidentified object floating on the surface of the sea.
Was it a person?
