Marriage was a bed of thorns for Stella. She lived like an overworked and unhappy slave for six years in her matrimonial home. One day, her uncaring husband, Waylon said to her, "Ayla will be back soon. You have to move out tomorrow." "I want a divorce," responded Stella. She left without shedding a tear or trying to change Waylon's stone-cold heart. Days after their divorce, they met again. Stella was in the arms of another man. Waylon's blood boiled at the sight of her looking so happy. "So, you couldn't even wait a while before jumping into another man's arms?" he queried distastefully. "And who are you to question my decision? It's my life, so I call the shots. Stay out of my business!" Stella fired at him before turning to look at her new man with shiny eyes. Waylon immediately lost it.
It was the end of the year, and Frimery was much colder now than in former years.
Stella Walsh was in the kitchen, busy cooking for the whole family.
While watching TV in the living room, her mother-in-law, Zoey Burton, urged her impatiently, "Are you not done cooking yet? What time is it now? Do you want to starve Adrian and me? You are really useless! You can't already get pregnant with a child, and you can't even do the housework well? I don't understand why my son married a loser like you."
Upon hearing these harsh words, Stella didn't retort. She could only lower her head.
She had been married to Waylon Burton for six years, and Zoey always scolded her for not getting pregnant.
If only Zoey knew the real reason. The truth was Waylon had never had sex with Stella once.
When the dinner was ready, Zoey and Adrian Burton, Waylon's younger brother, came to the dining room to have dinner. Stella could only eat in the kitchen.
Zoey never allowed Stella to have dinner with them at the same table, saying she would lose her appetite seeing Stella's face.
In the evening, a Maybach stopped in front of the villa.
Stella trotted to the balcony and looked downstairs.
A tall and slender man in a suit got out of the car. He was handsome and had an outstanding temperament. He was even more handsome than the big stars on TV.
Waylon seemed to sense that someone was looking at him, so he looked up. Then his gaze landed on Stella.
His eyes emitted coldness and ruthlessness.
Stella was already used to this kind of gaze. The corners of her mouth curved into a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes.
When Waylon entered their room, Stella had already prepared the bathtub for him as usual. She said, "Honey, your grandma has been at the convent for almost a month. In the afternoon, she called and said she wanted to pray for you..."
Before she could finish her words, Waylon interrupted, "We need to talk. I have something to tell you."
Stella turned her head and looked at him.
Waylon stared at her with dark eyes that had only indifference and alienation. There was no tenderness in them at all.
Then he said in a deep voice, "Ayla will be discharged from the hospital, and she's staying here. You should move out tomorrow."
Stella felt cold in her heart.
What Adrian had said was right.
"What if I don't?" Her voice was as light as a feather.
Waylon looked at her with a frown.
Stella had always been obedient to him. This was the first time she had disobeyed him.
He said coldly, "Don't forget how you managed to marry me six years ago."
Stella sneered inwardly. How could she forget it?
Back then, Ayla Wagner had a car accident. It was Stella who called an ambulance and took Ayla to the hospital. The doctor said that Ayla needed a blood transfusion, and it so happened that her blood type matched Stella's, so Stella donated blood to her. To thank her, Waylon granted her a request.
At that time, Stella's only request was to marry Waylon.
This had been her dream since she met him for the first time in high school.
When the doctor said that there was no possibility for Ayla to wake up again, Waylon agreed to Stella's request.
But since the day they got married, Waylon had always been cold to Stella.
Stella raised her chin and looked straight at Waylon without flinching. "I'm your legal wife. Why should I move out because she is coming back?"
Waylon suddenly fixed his eyes on her, and his face slowly darkened. He looked terrifying. "Why? Because Ayla said that you hit her six years ago."
Stella was stunned for a moment. Then she smiled bitterly. "If I say I didn't, would you believe me?"
Waylon approached her step by step and finally cornered her. He asked coldly, "Do you think I will believe you?"
His eyes never left her face. And they were full of disgust and hatred.
"You evil woman! How I wish I could let you suffer what Ayla has suffered," Waylon said through clenched teeth. His face was full of coldness.
Stella was shocked by the cruelty she saw in his eyes.
They had been married for six years and living under the same roof. But until now, his heart was still as cold as ice.
"It wasn't me," Stella retorted and pursed her lips tightly.
Obviously, Waylon didn't believe her. He looked down at her and said coldly, "You are a smart woman. You should know what to do."
After saying this, he left, leaving only silence and coldness in the bathroom.
Stella looked at herself in the mirror. She looked pale and exhausted.
Was this really her?
She used to be an energetic and proud woman. But now, she was so humble in this relationship.
Wasn't it ridiculous?
After standing there for a long time, she let out a long sigh and murmured to herself, "It's time to let myself go."
