Chapter 1 The meeting

(Gabriel)

“ Gabriel, are you listening to me?” My father's booming voice echoes through the office where he called me earlier to have a meeting. I was not in the best mood, and he should know better than to mess with me when I'm angry.“ Gabriel, are you listening to me?” My father's booming voice echoes through the office where he called me earlier to have a meeting. I was not in the best mood, and he should know better than to mess with me when I'm angry.

“Why are you wasting my time with useless shit, Dad!?” I shouted, but that got my father angrier than he was before.

“You know better than to go against my orders, Gabriel! I want you to close down that godforsaken club. You have to move back home, so you can take over your responsibility as the Alpha of this pack!” He shouted, getting in my face and right as I was about to punch him, my mom and brother walked in.

“What's going on here?” Mom asked, and I looked over at her and sighed.

“Mom, you need to control your husband and tell him to leave me alone, You guys have another son he can take over as Alpha. I don't want that title.” I said while stubbornly folding my arms. “Gabe, as much as I want to, you know I have other priorities,” my identical twin brother Nashton said, and I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Other priorities? Finding your mate is not a priority! You should be able to take over and not try to chase some pussy you know nothing of!” I shouted and Nashton decided to punch me. We started fighting and Dad had to call our Beta Aaron and Gamma Elliot to help stop us from tearing the office apart, which they succeeded in doing. After we calmed down a bit, Dad looked at me and decided to use his Alpha tone on me to get me to submit, but he should know that that shit doesn't work on me anymore.

“Gabriel Carson Houston, you are to move back home immediately and take over, or I will have no choice but to destroy that club you are always running off to!” I shook my head and began to leave, but stopped and turned to look at him.

“I won't move back home, so there's no use in trying to get me to. I am the king of this town, with or without a Pack. I, Gabriel Houston, rejected the title of Alpha for the Stone King Pack.” With that, I left everyone there with their mouths open as I walked out of the Pack house and into the world that I've come to know and love. While getting on my motorcycle and about to ride off, Dad sent me a mind link and I sighed, feeling frustrated because he wouldn't leave me alone.

'You can't reject being an Alpha to this Pack! That's nonsense! You and your brother are meant to be Alphas and if you so much as disappear from your duty again, I will personally make sure my guards get you back here whether you like it or not!' Dad screamed, and I growled at the way he was acting, as if he expected me to just bend to his will. I was so mad at them to think that I would give up the one thing I liked the most for some stupid Pack, no matter if it was my rightful birthplace.

'Shush Dad. Why don't we make a truce then, uhh? Let me keep my club, and I'll try my best to be the Alpha of the Pack whenever I can.' I said, making him sigh.

'Fair enough. Ok, you can keep your club, but you have to be here as much as possible and for your punishment, you will be the only one attending the upcoming meetings.” Dad said, and I narrowed my eyes.

'Dad, I'm almost thirty. When will you learn that I don't take orders from anyone, not even you?' I hissed and closed the link. I'm twenty-nine, for heaven's sake! My birthday is a couple of weeks from now. I moved out of the Pack house and into my own so that I could be away from my overbearing father, but regardless of what he just seems to always have some way to get me to go back there when I need my space. Nashton was like a baby, always listening to what our parents said and never disobeying them, or complaining. I, on the other hand, was a rebel, I went against the rules of my parents and did things my way. My father is the current Alpha and is looking to retire soon. As always, the crown will be passed down to his children, but Nashton came up with some lame excuse about needing to settle down first before he can think about his Alpha duties and Dad never argued with that. I hated the entire thing, so that's why I left. I left, so I could be responsible for my life and not of others. Even though it was my duty to the Pack, I just couldn't deal with all that shit, so moving away from them seems to be the better excuse, but Dad was relentless and there was no stopping him when he wanted something, I guess that's where I got it from.

'You're almost thirty but yet, you act like a pup. Always running off and getting into more trouble than a rebellious teenager. Look at the number of tattoos you have on your body, news flash, they are ugly. Just like your personality.' OK, I had to admit that that was funny. He's also against tattoos and my bike, don't get me started on how he would react whenever he catches me smoking. The damn old man nearly had a heart attack last time.

'Goodbye, Dad, I'll talk to you later.' I closed the link and started my bike, then rode towards my club. At least he's not going to argue with me any more about my club, and that's all that matters. Hopefully, I made the right decision because I wouldn't want to be the one responsible for killing my entire family. Not that I've thought about it, but it's getting there.
