"It's over. It's finally over," Leon murmured as he sat down next to the rocking little ball that was Lucy, his suit torn and covered in bloodstains. "It's over. It's finally over." Lucy was the one who had been rocking. The man's face was marred with cuts and bruises all over. There are moments when I simply do not comprehend my brother. After everything that has taken place, he is now able to simply sit next to her. The fact that we are in this predicament may be directly attributed to her actions.
Smith has been found dead, and Silly has vanished from the scene. Even though I would prefer to have my little wolf by my side, at least I can rest easy knowing that she is in good hands with Wendy.
Leon began to speak to Moriah, but she did not reply to his greeting.
To get her attention, Leon said, "Hey, look at me," and turned her head to face him.
As he did so, I was overcome with feelings of envy. I have no right to feel this way because she made an attempt to destroy and murder my family. But I'm at a loss to explain how I've been feeling lately. When I'm around her, it's as if I'm standing in the eye of the storm; everything else seems hazy and transitory before my eyes, except for her. Being around her is like being in the eye of the storm. She is the only thing that I can see, as plain as the nose on my face.
Lucy cast her gaze in Leon's direction, but her expression betrayed no sign of recognition or emotion. She appeared to be lifeless on the inside; looking into her eyes was like staring into a chasm.
"It's going to be okay," Leon mumbled, uncertainly peering into her eyes as if he were looking for something specific. "It's going to be okay," he added.
After a little pause, Lucy turned her head to the side in order to take another glance at the ashes of Lorcan. After he had finished, he heaved a sigh of defeat and rose up. Lucy had stopped rocking from side to side, but she continued to bring her knees up to her chest and hold them there as if her life depended on it.
Leon inched closer and closer to me.
"She's not well, Cedric. Lorcan appears to be what grounded her, and now that he is gone, it is as if something has broken inside her. When I looked at her, it was like looking at a ghost. It was as if I could see straight through her." Leon trailed off with a note of worry in his voice. I gave a cursory look in the direction of my brother before my gaze moved on to Lucy's lifeless corpse.
Leon finished waiting for a response from me before continuing to speak. "I don't know what to do, brother..."
"I think she just needs some time," I replied, turning to gaze at Leon. "It's just that simple."
Leon remarked, with a wry smile on his lips, "You may be right... I'm going to go and get cleaned up. I look as if I have been dragged through the mud," and then he went off in the direction of our house. "I look as if I have been dragged through the mud," Leon added. Before he went inside, he gave me a sideways glance and said,
Before entering the house, he gave a quick glance at Lucy and then at me before saying, "Take care of yourself, brother." After that, he left. I understood what he was getting at. It's possible that Lucy will bring about my demise. He is concerned that I might sustain an injury. That's my dumb older brother right there... Always put the needs of other people first.
Leon
Cedric may not be aware of it, but I can tell by the way he looks at Lucy. I cannot remember the last time I saw him with that expression on his face. I am not aware of what is taking place with Lucy at this time; however, Cedric must exercise extreme caution. Even if Lorcan is no longer alive, she has demonstrated that she can easily switch loyalties when necessary. If he really does care about her, I don't want to witness the heartbreak that would ensue if she turned him down.
I spoke out loud to myself, despite the fact that I knew he could hear me.
"Like I said once upon a time, brother, I let her in, and even now, I do not know if that was the right decision... and now it seems that goes for the both of us."

My husband, Bennett, and I were New York's golden couple. But our perfect marriage was a lie, childless because of a rare genetic condition he claimed would kill any woman who carried his baby. When his dying father demanded an heir, Bennett proposed a solution: a surrogate. The woman he chose, Aria, was a younger, more vibrant version of me. Suddenly, Bennett was always busy, supporting her through "difficult IVF cycles." He missed my birthday. He forgot our anniversary. I tried to believe him, until I overheard him at a party. He confessed to his friends that his love for me was a "deep connection," but with Aria, it was "fire" and "exhilarating." He was planning a secret wedding with her in Lake Como, at the same villa he'd promised me for our anniversary. He was giving her a wedding, a family, a life—all the things he denied me, using a lie about a deadly genetic condition as his excuse. The betrayal was so complete it felt like a physical shock. When he came home that night, lying about a business trip, I smiled and played the part of the loving wife. He didn't know I'd heard everything. He didn't know that while he was planning his new life, I was already planning my escape. And he certainly didn't know I had just made a call to a service that specialized in one thing: making people disappear.

Being second best is practically in my DNA. My sister got the love, the attention, the spotlight. And now, even her damn fiancé. Technically, Rhys Granger was my fiancé now-billionaire, devastatingly hot, and a walking Wall Street wet dream. My parents shoved me into the engagement after Catherine disappeared, and honestly? I didn't mind. I'd crushed on Rhys for years. This was my chance, right? My turn to be the chosen one? Wrong. One night, he slapped me. Over a mug. A stupid, chipped, ugly mug my sister gave him years ago. That's when it hit me-he didn't love me. He didn't even see me. I was just a warm-bodied placeholder for the woman he actually wanted. And apparently, I wasn't even worth as much as a glorified coffee cup. So I slapped him right back, dumped his ass, and prepared for disaster-my parents losing their minds, Rhys throwing a billionaire tantrum, his terrifying family plotting my untimely demise. Obviously, I needed alcohol. A lot of alcohol. Enter him. Tall, dangerous, unfairly hot. The kind of man who makes you want to sin just by existing. I'd met him only once before, and that night, he just happened to be at the same bar as my drunk, self-pitying self. So I did the only logical thing: I dragged him into a hotel room and ripped off his clothes. It was reckless. It was stupid. It was completely ill-advised. But it was also: Best. Sex. Of. My. Life. And, as it turned out, the best decision I'd ever made. Because my one-night stand isn't just some random guy. He's richer than Rhys, more powerful than my entire family, and definitely more dangerous than I should be playing with. And now, he's not letting me go.
