Chapter 1 Storm of Betrayal

The sky rumbled with thunder, and Elia Sauri was so scared that she sat on the ground. Where she was, was her old house in the countryside, an old house full of firewood and weeds everywhere, the room was in total darkness, barely she could see something.

Elia had always been afraid of the dark, and at that moment she was trying to control her fear. She crawled to the door and knocked hard. "Is there anyone there? Open the door, please! Help!"

Apart from the sound of heavy rain outside, there was no other sound. She just wanted to go into the house to collect some firewood and found that she was locked up!

The house was surrounded by walls on all sides, and the roof was covered with tiles that, due to the passage of time, leaked from time to time. There was only one wooden door to get out, but she couldn't open it no matter how hard she tried.

“Boom” another thunder cracked the sky.

Suddenly, something fell from above, breaking the ceiling and making a huge noise.

“Ah!” Elia screamed, scared.

The ceiling had a hole through which the rain filtered directly into the room. Lightning crossed the sky, illuminating a little to the room that was previously immersed in darkness. She saw with fear a man lying on the floor. It was he who had fallen. She could see from his shrunken body that he was suffering a lot.

"Are you OK?" Elia asked him carefully, keeping her distance.

The man didn't answer anything. Was he already dead?

Elia became nervous immediately, she approached slowly, trying to contain her fear, and reached out to check the man's breathing.

But suddenly, the man grabbed her hand, and just when she was about to scream, the man covered her mouth. He hugged her from behind; his hand was a little damp, and he smelled like blood.

“Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you.” The man's voice was deep, with an air of wildness, with a hoarse and uncontrolled tone, even a little hurried.

Elia opened her eyes in fear, nodded, indicating that she would not scream. Then, the man removed his hand from her mouth, and suddenly, he stood up and fell to the ground; she quickly grabbed him, but her body was also dragged, and she fell on top of him.

The next second.

Their lips accidentally touched. The man growled, his hot breath blowing into her nose, filling the cold night with warmth.

“Save me, I'll give you everything you want.” The man's breathing was heavy, with an uncontrollable hoarse tone, and he whispered in her ear.

Before Elia could respond, he sealed her mouth with a kiss.

The sky was full of lightning and thunder, and the light illuminated their intertwined bodies, creating an atmosphere full of passion.

Much later, Elia had fallen asleep; a roar was heard on the roof, a helicopter was flying.

The man looked up at the sky, knowing that the helicopter was coming to get him. Taking advantage of the lightning, he gently caressed the face of the woman next to him. The light was weak; he couldn't see her face clearly, but he could feel that her skin was soft, warm, and tender.

He took off the emerald pendant that he always wore around his neck and put it in her hand; it was a family heirloom. “This is our sign; you can use it to look for me in the future.”

He had to go.

Elia hadn't woken up yet, and he was already climbing the ladder he had taken down from the helicopter, and he left as quickly as he came.

When dawn broke, Elia suddenly woke up. Images of the previous night flashed through her mind; the man's heavy, passionate breathing resonated in her ear, making her cheeks warm.

How could I have had such an embarrassing dream?

She moved a little, and her whole body hurt, and when she looked at herself, her clothes were messy, she only had them on, and they weren't buttoned properly. Suddenly, she realized something.

That was not a dream; it really happened!

She looked around, and there was no one but her! The man was gone.

She got dressed and got up; on the straw floor, there was a blood stain, she didn't know if it was his or hers. The man last night was hurt and drugged; she could feel it deeply.

But just like that, she lost her first time. Her eyes watered, she looked at the sky through the hole in the ceiling, swallowing back her tears. At that time the sky was already clearing, without clouds after the rain, the dawn was beginning to appear, announcing a clear day after the storm.

But her mood was still stuck remembering the night before, dark and rainy. She clenched her fist and suddenly felt something in her hand; it was an emerald pendant. Did that man leave it?

She threw it to the ground forcefully. Did he take away my innocence and think that with a jewel he could make it up to me? Anger and sadness were intertwined; her strength increased with her fury, and with one blow, she broke the wooden door with a stone that was inside the house.

The old house was only two or three meters from her house; she returned home treading in the mud.

When she opened the door, what she saw blew her mind.

Her boyfriend was sleeping in her bed with her cousin! There were clothes thrown everywhere, their arms were visible outside the sheets.

Her heart hurt as if it were being cut into a thousand pieces, bleeding non-stop. Her boyfriend of two years in college, Sergio Griera, during the summer vacation, suddenly said that he wanted to visit her town and meet her family.

They were planning to get married, so she accepted his proposal and took him home, but she didn't expect that her mother had gone to visit a distant relative that morning and wouldn't return until the next day.

So she attended to Sergio alone, her cousin, upon hearing that she had brought her boyfriend, came in a friendly manner to help her cook. After dinner, her cousin urged her to look for firewood to heat water for the bath.

In the countryside, where facilities were not well developed, many families used straw and firewood to heat a large pot, and bathing also required heating water in a pot.

She didn't expect that as soon as she had entered the old house where they kept the firewood, the door would close and lock. It was already night. After the door closed, she couldn't see anything, and she didn't have her cell phone. Suddenly, it started to rain heavily, and she couldn't escape. Inexplicably locked in the house, she lost her innocence at the hands of that man. Already physically and emotionally wounded, she wanted to search for Sergio to cry on his shoulder.

She never expected that, at her most vulnerable moment, he would deal the final blow.

Vania Sofia Sauri, her cousin, was the first to wake up; she screamed in surprise: “How can this be?! Elia, let me explain, we got drunk last night, I thought he was my boyfriend, just then…”

Sergio also woke up to the noise, immediately saw what was happening and noticed Elia, disheveled next to him. He hurriedly dressed and explained: “Elia, I thought it was you last night, really.”

"Stop," Elia growled softly; tears gushing like a spring: “We're done!”

With that, she ran away.

Sergio dressed quickly and followed her. Elia ran to the old house; she planned to look for that pendant, find that man, and make him give her some explanation. But just as she entered, the old house that had deteriorated over the years and been swept away by the night rain suddenly collapsed with a “boom,” and the old house next door also collapsed.

“Elia!” Sergio shouted, his voice hoarse.
