Chapter One
(Death escape)
Adams' POV
Just as I was about to leave the Berret's mansion, the shrill ringing of my phone sliced through the serene environment.
"What on earth do they want from me?" I groaned, frustration evident in my voice.
I reached for my pocket, my hands digging in as I grabbed my phone.
I squinted to make out the caller's ID,
"Adams speaking, what's the problem, Damian?" I asked, raising my brow.
"Sir," his voice quavered. "I think there's a big problem," he replied, a hint of fear in his voice.
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice laced with worry as my temper flared.
"The pigs did a raid in your warehouse, I think they burnt some of your goods, " his voice low as fear enveloped it.
Cold shivers ran down my spine, as I bit my lips. I stood there, mute, my mind reeling in thoughts.
"Sir," he called, jolting me from my thoughts.
"Who did this?" my fist clenched, my breaths coming in short gasps.
"I think I have a hunch"
" Do you think or do you have a hunch?" My anger began to rise toward him
" I have a hunch it might be... "
"Damian," I said, exhaling deeply as I tried to calm my nerves. "Get to the route of all these and don't hesitate to get back to me," I said, hanging up the call.
I strode out of the mansion, unfazed by the bad news which hung heavy in the air.
I need not get upset with the news, I had someone I was going to meet. A slight change in my mood might ruin the whole meeting.
I clambered my car, the engine revved as I zoomed off, weaving out of the mansion and into the streets.
The moon bathed the earth with its ethereal glow, and the street lights passed by in a blur.
My fingers moved to the radio and I turned it on,
"Looks like I made it, look how far we've gone my lady," I hummed alongside the artist.
A few minutes later, I pulled up at the hotel's garage and climbed down, making my way into the hotel.
"Hello, Mr Adams," a professional smile running across her lips. "Good to have you on board,"
"Thank you Mary" I replied walking straight toward the elevator.
" Everything is in place for the night, Sir. Just as you requested. Your room number is 463..." Mary kept speaking, trying to keep up with my pace.
" Good. Thank you once again" I walked into the elevator, paying little attention to her words.
" Enjoy your evening, Sir," she said with a smile
Ding! The elevator rang and closed. Mary's face disappeared little by little as the door was completely closed.
I kept counting each floor as I moved, but then I noticed a twist in my thoughts. The way people around the hotel gaped at me while I walked to the elevator.
Hope nothing was wrong with the way I dressed, or was there something going on?
I looked at the top of the elevator, it was only 250-350. I was close.
Ding! The elevator rang again and the door went wide open. I exhaled heavily and walked out headed to find room 463.
There it was! Room 463 which had him behind its closed door. I shrieked before tapping on the doorbell.
"Hey" behind held breaths I said to the beautiful masculine image standing in front of me.
"Right on time," he said amidst smiles. "Come on in" he let me in.
"Happy birthday, Ethan" I could only say before he locked my lips in a wet kiss.
Has he been thinking about it all evening while waiting for me? I thought to myself still having my lips locked in.
"I got your package earlier today at work and this room is a bomb. Thank you" Ethan said when he had finally let go of my lips.
"I hope you like it?"
" I love it!" he said pride and happiness evident in his voice.
"I'm glad you love it. I have more surprises" I whispered seductively.
"We have the whole night, let's make good use of it" I smiled, he held me and dragged me to the center of the room, his grip was firm.
I was swept off my feet at the thought of what Ethan meant by making good use of the night. My palms were automatically sweaty and my chest was too small for my heart to contain.
Having watched him pull off my suit and unbutton my shirt I knew it was going to be a long night indeed. Soon our lips got entangled in another round of wet kisses while we searched our way to the giant bed in the room.
"Did you hear that?" Ethan paused raised brows I shook my head still fighting to continue.
"Did you hear something?" I asked planting kisses on his face while he kept avoiding kisses on his lips.
"I think I heard gunshots..."
I jolted up the moment I heard the same. What was going on? This is one serene environment that hardly had such activities.
"I'll go check" Walking towards the window Ethan said
"No don't! It might be dangerous" I was too late to stop him as he was already looking through the window
"I think we are surrounded, Adams"
"Leave the..." I couldn't complete my sentence at
the sound of broken glasses, sliced through the atmosphere as the bullet hit Ethan.
"Fuck! " Ethan groaned as he bled, due to the impact of the bullet.
The gunshots kept coming into the room and Ethan was bleeding profusely from his arm, his blood staining the marble floor.
"We need to leave Ethan. We've been tracked," I hissed, biting my lips in anger.
With my hands digging into my pocket I took out my phone and with shaky hands, I dialed Damian's number.
"We need help. Ethan has been shot," I couldn't say more 'cause I needed to leave with Ethan immediately.
He kept groaning in pain and I had to think of a way to leave the hotel without being harmed.
I tried getting up to take Ethan out but the sniper was one hell of a sniper. I got shot on my shoulder and the attacker kept shooting.
"Holy fucking day!" I groaned in pain as I fell on the vase flower, its sharp edge piercing into my open wound.
I needed to be strong for Ethan. I got up again and with a speed of light, I hurried out of the room with Ethan cradled in my arms.
Avoiding any more injury we successfully left the hotel and through the escape door, we found ourselves roaming in the forests. I finally took out my ringing phone.
"Get an ambulance immediately. We'll be at the safe house" I managed to say amidst short breaths.
"Adams you're hurt," Ethan said in pain trying to touch my wound
"Don't say a word. You're losing a lot of blood. Damian is getting an ambulance. I'm taking us to the safe house" I said all in one breath.
Just then, everywhere began to spin, moving in circles. The last thing I could remember was the muffled sound of bullets on the tarred road, then, everything went... blank.
