The novel is about a girl that lost her mother in her young age and is suffering from a sickness called ALEXITHYMIA
"Anna" a 15 year old young lady called out to her mother who was on the sickbed in the hospital, she moved closer to the bed and just stood there staring at her mother as she was writhing in pain and struggling to breathe, suddenly her father rushed in "Andrea" he said with worry etched all over his face "are you okay?" he said as he held her hand, he glanced at the monitor beside her bed and saw that her heart beat was slowing down "hold on I'll go and get the doctor okay" he pecked the back of her hand and rushed out again, the sick lady slowly looked towards her daughter who still had a str
aight face on like nothing was happening with a weak smile "come over here" she managed to say while stretching her hand out, the girl went closer and took her hand "honey, when I'm gone, I want you to take care of yourself, your sister and your daddy for me okay, be a good girl and don't give daddy a hard time, study hard and make proud okay, I love you and tell your daddy and sister that I love them too....." her breathing was becoming heavier with the passing seconds and her limbs were becoming numb, she held her daughter's hand and kissed it then she flashed her a weak smile and kicked the bucket. The girl just stood there watching her dead mum until her dad finally came back with the doctor who examined her and confirmed that she was dead "I'm sorry but she is no more" the doctor said to her dad and he collapsed right there, when everyone present at the scene broke out into tears as they came to his aid. He later regained consciousness, he wept and was sorrow filled after losing his dear wife, they later arranged for the funeral, they prayed for her and she was buried. People soon started coming from various places to mourn the death of their dear one. What shocked people was the fact that Anna(Mr. Raymond's first daughter) was unfazed by the fact that her mother was dead, even Shalom(her little sister) cried and sobbed after learning about the death of their mother and that made people to start thinking and spreading rumors that Anna was not a normal human being, some even concluded that that she wasn't human at all but Mr. Raymond was there to cut them short and stop them from saying anything bad about his daughter, he warned that anyone who couldn't keep his mouth shut is free to leave or else he or she will face the consequences... A month later Mr. Raymond had decided to move on and be strong for his two daughters, he focused on his business and children as it is he is a known and reputable business man, he sent Anna abroad to further her studies after her secondary and within seven years, she was already working as a neurologist. She had decided to go back home to Florida and continue working there. When she got home, she figured the environment didn't change much but everything seemed different, even Shalom had grown up to become a stunning lady who was 19 years old after all they only had three years distance between them, her dad although aged hadn't changed much, he was still handsome as always, they were very excited to see her but she still had a straight and unfazed feature like she never cared, her father feared that no man would want to marry her.... Well let's get to the point, Anna is an ALEXITHYMIA patient, she lacks the most important thing a person needs to live that's FEELINGS, she was diagnosed with the ailment at the age of 10 and the doctor had said it was caused by DEPRESSION, well actually, Anna is a very conserved person since when she was still a child she rarely talks to her mother or father about her friends or teachers at school talk more of herself even though her mum had tried confiding with her a hell lot of times but she doesn't budge, when she was diagnosed with alexithymia her mother blamed herself for not being a good mother after all, but her husband had convinced her that it wasn't her fault and that was how God wanted it to be. Well, alexithymia patients are unable to distinguish between their feelings whether love, hatred, sympathy, compassion or any sort of feelings and their behavior makes people think that they don't care. Anna had grew up to possess the habit of displaying what she felt in her heart on her face, and that's why she always had a straight face on, so behind that beautiful and attractive face was an empty heart, she had also refused therapy, she believes that alexithymia is incurable and going to get counsel from someone for something that is never going to be cured is useless. Some of the attributes Anna possess as an alexithymia patient are discomfort, anger, emptiness and lack of affection PS: when she gets angry, her outbursts aren't one you would want to experience, she feels very uncomfortable especially when she is in crowded places, and her lack of affection is something her dad and sister are used to by now
