#JUDGE STONE POV#
I have never been this stress on a case before but what can I do it's still my job to do
"Thank you so much judge stone I knew I could trust in you " one of the victims Mr. Alfred said with a wide smile on his face
"It's my pleasure and is so glad you trusted in me for the job," I Said smiling back before walking away back to my office
Ugh, what a long day I have been on this case for over three months and finally I gave the best judgment for the case and it was the best I could do!
"Dad" my daughter Olivia was finally back from her trip to London
"Olivia.....how was your journey?" I asked getting up to give her a hug
"It was splendid Dad I loved every bit of it and Dad we need to celebrate I heard you finally gave the long-term judgment to Mr. Alfred's case," she said with a huge smile on her face
"Of course, we would celebrate that case wasn't an easy one to bring to justice," I Said packing up my belongings to wrap up for the day
" Did you visit your mom while in London?" I asked gaining a frown from her
" I didn't.....not because I went to London means I must always visit her," she said
" I just asked I wasn't forcing you to check on her you can always do it when you are ready"
" Thank you for understanding me Dad" ....that's the best I can do after the divorce with Olivia's mom she has refused to say two words to her mother and no matter how I try she's just not ready
"But Dad if you don't have anything to do with Mom why do you want me to go back to her?" She asked
" Because she's your mother and you need a mother's care," I said
" Whatever....I don't want to talk to her" she said walking ahead of me...what would happen to you when I'm not here anymore ....this job as a judge is becoming very dangerous and I fear the results but you are all I have got
#OLIVIA POV#
"How's your dad doing I heard he won the case and that's such great news," Cyrus said my Bestie
" He refused to celebrate it I wonder why but back then he always talked about how much he would celebrate it if he ever won...I don't know why but he is always gloomy these few days" I said remembering earlier he didn't seem that happy he was always spacing out and for some awkward reason he wants me to reconcile with my mom
"Olivia!" Cyrus called waving her hands toward me
"You spaced out again" she added
"Don't mind me....am just worried about my dad he's acting weird these few days" I said
" Maybe he is just tired," she said taking a sip from her wine
" Where is Chris?" She asked
" Ohh Chris. I don't know where he is am sure he doesn't know I'm back from London" I said remembering I was supposed to inform Chris about my arrival but why must I anyways it's not like we are married just friends with benefits
"He deserves to know....I wonder how you two do this stuff without catching feelings, I'm sure Chris likes you but just can't say it" Cyrus said gaining a weird smile from me
" And you like him too" she added
" I don't.... Chris is just a fling I can't like a guy like him, I want someone who I can go on adventures with and have thrilling experiences not a cheesy mommy's boy as a boyfriend" I said making Cyrus laugh so loud we gained few attention people around
"Stop laughing Cyrus," I said mouthing the word 'sorry' to people around
" Olivia why are you daydreaming such guys only exist in movies," Cyrus said
She's right I have met a lot of men but it's always the same cheesy romance I just don't fall in love with such guys...I want action, I want to know how it feels not knowing what would happen next but I guess that's just a dream
"You know Olivia if you keep spacing out like that I might need to stop reminding you of stuff," Cyrus said
" I don't want this same lame relationship over and over again am 26 already I need adventure," I said still staring outside the window
" You would get one soon," Cyrus said
"Let's go Olivia ....we have a lot of arranging to do before a hectic day tomorrow" Cyrus added pulling me up from my seat and dropping a few dollars on the table
"Slow down Cyrus....we would get there early," I said rushing towards Cyrus who was way ahead of me but instead bumped into a man wearing a hoodie who quickly squeezed a piece of paper into my hands
"Sorry" he whispered before walking away
I unwrap the paper and go through it
What!!?
It's a treat!!
He is threatening me about my dad!?
I turn around quickly but the man is nowhere to be found....
"Olivia stops spacing out it's becoming awkward and weird!!" Cyrus yelled from afar
" Sorry"
" A man gave you a threat paper?" Cyrus asked after I explained for the second time
" Yes and he didn't even name a price"
"Maybe he doesn't want money?" Cyrus suggested
" Then why " This confusing
" Olivia look at this also....he seemed very serious..read this paragraph again," Cyrus said showing me the letter again
" Your father must die" I read out
" That's brutal" Cyrus added
"Maybe he made a mistake" I suggested panicking
"It's not a mistake....a killer Don't make mistakes," Cyrus said
"Stop scaring me !" I was already scared
" Just relax Olivia if he is serious maybe he would come around again...until then don't stress it too much" Cyrus suggested....that's a good idea too, maybe he is trying to scare me for some Cash
"That's true Cyrus but do I need to tell my dad about it?"
"No!!!!"
" Why?"
" Because you would just make matters worst I have seen stuff like this in movies.... maybe the letter is supposed to stay between you and the killer," Cyrus said
" Stop taking everything as a joke Cyrus...this is not a movie, I don't want anything to happen to my dad!"
" Nothing will happen to him just be careful and don't be too worried maybe you are just overthinking this thing," Cyrus said
She might be right, maybe am just being paranoid, if he wanted to kill my dad why does he have to inform me about it....it's better I take this off my mind and just live my life
It's been eight days and nothing happened, no weird letters and no threat from anyone to my dad I guess I was just being paranoid after all
I smiled as I walked down the street to my favorite coffee shop
My phone vibrates as I pick up the call
"Dad"
"Drop by my office when you close I have a case for you to handle," my dad said
" I will make sure to drop by...I will call you back later I have to pick up an important call" I said
" Okay dear," he said before hanging up
" Olivia!!" Cyrus yelled over the phone making me push my phone away from my ear for a second before putting it back
"I got my first case!!" She added still shouting
" Wow...that's good," I said
" Finally all your hard work paid off am so happy for you!" I added while Cyrus won't stop giggling
" I can't believe after everything...it was handed to me I had already thought of giving up on the interview since they never called me back," she said smiling at the file in her hands
" This calls for celebration tonight Olivia," she added
" Of course...I would be at your apartment by eight be ready for some hangover" I said
" Are you at work already?" She asked
" Almost...just grabbing a cup of morning coffee," I said still waiting for my turn
" Did that killer send any threat whatsoever?" Cyrus asked
"Ugh Cyrus you had to remind me....he didn't I forgot about him maybe it was a prank or an empty threat," I said paying for my coffee
" Whatever just be careful and am expecting you Tonight," she said
"Okay baby girl...we'll talk later," I said hanging up
I walk towards my dad's office and I notice quite a lot of people around the building making my heart skip a thousand beats
Did the killer get to my dad before I could stop him?
