Chapter 1 The Surprise Announcement
Mia
First, they were boys with their eyes full of mischief and taunting me. I knew that naughty look. I had seen it before. The look in their eyes made my skin crawl.
I inched backwards, moving away from them till my back hit the locker. I gasped as the three of them stepped forward, forming an arc around me. I felt my back against the hard wood of my locker and groaned as I stared at them, knowing that I was trapped.
There was no way for me to escape. I had learned from previous episodes that they were stronger than I was and I couldn't run past them. I was at a deadend and I hated it.
They seemed to know that as their eyes twinkled with mirth.
"Stop fighting this, Mia." One of them chuckled, his voice grating on my nerves. "You are ours. You can't escape unless we let you."
"And we don't intend to."Â Another laughed.
I snorted. I belonged to no one and certainly not to bullies like them. I told them exactly that.
I spat at them, my eyes scanning around for a weakness in their formation that I could use to escape.
"I'm not yours."
The three of them started laughing, a deep belly one that sent shivers through me. I swallowed the fear pooling in my mouth and kept my face blank. I wasn't going to let them see that I was afraid. I knew enough of bullies to know that they fed on fear. I wasn't going to let them thrive on mine.

Chapter 1 How Dare You
Outside, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. It had been raining the whole day.
Standing in front of the wardrobe, Adeline threw all her clothes into her suitcase, one after another.
The clock on the wall was ticking. It was past midnight already, but Brendan still hadn't come home.
Three years ago, Adeline married Brendan. However, Brendan had always been busy with work and went home very late every day. Adeline was always worried about him, so she'd stay up late, waiting for him to come home safely and then attending to his every need. In fact, she wouldn't go to bed until Brendan was asleep.
But today, things were different.
Just as Adeline zipped her suitcase shut, she heard heavy footsteps from behind her.
She slowly turned around and met Brendan's cold eyes, which were always calm and emotionless when he looked at her. She had a million things she wanted to say to him, but as she looked into his indifferent eyes, she found she could only say two words. "You're back."
Glancing at the packed luggage, Brendan snorted coldly. "Going on a trip? Where are you heading?"
Adeline didn't have the energy to explain. She just looked at him and said, "I've prepared some food for you. You can eat something first. After that, let's talk."
Earlier that afternoon, she had fainted and was sent to the hospital. The doctor gave her a check-up and ran some tests on her. Right after she got the examination report, she received the message from Tiffany.

Chapter 1 Facade
The bedroom was dimly lit, emanating a depressing aura. Melissa Sherman fell on the floor, clutching her stomach.
The pregnancy caused her discomfort. The stomach cramps were unbearable. Her face was pale as paper. She was drenched in a cold sweat.
Just then, the bedroom door flew open, and a man came into her sight.
Melissa reached out her hand, asking for help. "Honey, help me..."
However, a shiver ran down her spine when she met the man's cold, distant gaze.
"Melissa, is this what you want?" The man's voice dripped with disgust. "You played tricks and made me sleep with you. Do you think that will make me fall in love with you?"
Melissa and Everett Mayfield were engaged since childhood. Eventually, the two got married under their parents' arrangement. However, Everett didn't like her.
They were married for three years, but everyone knew her husband had no feelings for her, and she was just the nominal Mrs. Mayfield—nothing more than that. Therefore, everyone ridiculed her for three years.
Two months ago, the Mayfield Group held a banquet, and Melissa attended it as Everett's wife. Unexpectedly, she and Everett had sex that night.
Regardless of how much she explained, Everett thought it was her plot.

Chapter 1 THE ALPHA WITHOUT AN HEIR
INTRO
She panted heavily as she ran in the dark woods, her legs cutting so many distance in a split second. If it wasn't for the sound of her legs rustling against the leaves and the raucous men chasing after her from behind, she was damn sure her stolid breath would've been overheard.
"Faster!!!"
"We're losing her!!!"
"Lura would have our heads if we let her go!"
The men yelled from behind, and tho she was scared, she made no attempt to look at them.
The little one whined in her arms - the little one which she held to her chest, wrapped in a thick fabric. She must be so scared and tired from all the running already.
"I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry" the woman whimpered and increased her pace.
How does she lose the men behind her? The forest was extremely dark with just a dim reflection of the moonlight aiding her path.
A light sob racked her throat and suddenly, she felt a sharp pain on her leg which threw her to the floor.
"Argh!!!"Â She cried out, unimaginable pains coursing through her body.
Her baby got loose from her arms and rolled to the floor, also letting out her own cry.

Chapter 1 The Eighth Month Of Her Pregnancy
Slap!
Wendy Finch was smacked in the face. Her skin tingled with pain and her head buzzed.
She staggered a few steps back, one hand instinctively covering her bulging belly while the other one held her swollen cheek.
"Wendy, you heartless bitch! How dare you do this to Eris?! You've always been against us ever since my daughter and I became part of this family. To think that you would resort to hurting Eris with a knife... If anything bad happens to my daughter, I will never forgive you, Wendy Finch!"
Cacia Brown turned away then and walked to the living room.
She crouched to the floor and held her bleeding daughter.
"It's not my fault! I didn't do anything!" Wendy clutched at Brian Oliver's sleeve as though it were her last lifeline. "Brian, trust me, please! I really didn't do it!"
"Didn't you?" Brian asked, shaking her off and glaring at her with burning eyes. "There was nobody else in here besides the two of you! Are you saying that Eris hurt herself on purpose?"

Chapter 1 I Want You
Lightning lit up the sky, followed by the deep rumble of thunder outside the window.
The bathroom's frosted glass door, touched by a soft, uncertain light, showed the outlines of two figures.
A tall man and a woman, both delicate and graceful, stood behind it.
Steam clouded the air, making it hard for Alicia Ellis to see. Her hands pressed against the glass, the pattern of her palms clear against it.
Around her waist, the man's arms held her tight, strong as iron.
A whirl of emotions filled her. Confusion and happiness tangling together, she felt like a feather tossed high into the air before falling.
Today, she celebrated three years of being married to Erick Ellis.
In the past, Alicia always reminded Erick, but he never remembered. He even seldom came home.
Though they were married, they felt like strangers.
This intimacy, typical for a couple, was new to them.
Three years of marriage, and Alicia remained untouched.
But she never held it against Erick.
Finally, the bathroom door opened. Erick, dressed in a bathrobe and immersed in steam, stepped out.
His robe hung open, showing his chest, marked with Alicia's nail scratches.
Alicia was bursting with excitement, like a hyper little animal. In her eagerness, she accidentally scratched his skin a few times, unable to contain her wild energy.

Chapter 1 Back For Divorce
Scarlett's POV:
I checked the time again and sighed. It had been one and a half hours since I flew in, and I had lost count of the times I had glanced at my watch. My husband, Charles Moore, was nowhere to be found. He was supposed to pick me up from the airport. But he must be with his girlfriend right now. I shook my head and smiled bitterly at the thought, stood up, and dragged myself and my luggage out of the airport.
I married Charles three years ago. But shortly after our wedding, I received some good news from my dream university abroad. I was accepted to one of their programs, so I left to study there. Charles and I had not seen each other for three years. While I was away, he was spending all his time with the woman he truly loved.
Now, I was finally finished with my studies and I came back home. I wanted to end our nominal marriage. I decided it was time for me to stop hoping for things that would never happen.
On my way home in a cab, I sent Charles a message that read, "We need to talk."
Before long, I was standing inside our empty house. I set my luggage aside and headed to the living room. I sat on the sofa and waited. The house looked and smelled like no one had lived in it for years. Our wedding photo was still hanging on the wall. It offended and saddened me at the same time.

Chapter 1 Rebirth
Rocky Bai woke up in a sweat, confusion filling his wide eyes. It felt like he had just woken up from a nightmare. Gasping for air, he soon noticed something was amiss. His arms held him up at once. The scene coming into his eyes knocked him down like a feather.
He was greeted with the sight of a luxurious and splendid room decked with classic decoration. There were no lamps or lights in here, but it was as bright as day. He was lying in a comfortable bed with a golden silk quilt, white tulle encircling it on all sides. Rocky Bai felt like he was lying on an imperial bed. Through the white tulle, Rocky Bai could see plenty of gold and jade objects on a cabinet. He could tell that each of them was worth at least a million.
Everything Rocky Bai saw caught him by surprise, and then a sudden thought popped into his head: 'Where am I?" What he last remembered was being on the way to a meeting. He had been invited by the International Animal Genome Center to deliver a keynote speech. Rocky Bai, a young and talented scholar in the field of gene study, ranked number one among his peers. No one in the whole world could surpass him in the field of gene study until now. While he was on the flight heading for the venue, an aircraft accident occurred right before he passed out. Now, he was in a strange room.
It was impossible that this was hell. But if this was heaven, how could everything around him feel so real? Wasn't it said that only the soul could go to heaven when someone died? Souls couldn't feel anything physically, right? But his senses were so real and substantial. He could feel not only the softness and comfort of the bed, but also the warmth coming from someone under the quilt next to him.

Chapter 1 Introduction
-'Rude! '-
My everyday line in my head every time he didn't comment anything. No 'thank you' or whatsoever after giving his orders. I told you, he doesn't know the word thank you. It doesn't exist in his vocabulary.
Madi's POV:
"Tell me Madi, why do you have to apply for another job? You already have your own fine dining restaurants. Three big freaking restaurants in the City. And you're not lacking out of money, in fact you almost give the half of them to your charities. God! Aren't you feeling exhausted?"
That's Noelle. My best friend and a manager to one of my three restaurants operate in the City.
"Because I told you it's also my dream since college. That's why I also took a business degree to fulfil my bucket list of dreams." I tried to reason out with her but still she couldn't understand my point.
It's been a month since I started working as a PA at Wilsons Electronics Corporation under the management of Mr. Gabriel Wilsons, our CEO. And let me tell you, the pressure of working in the biggest company in the City of Chicago is sometimes slipped out of control.
Running there and everywhere, faxing papers, e-mailing documents, checking and updating my boss's schedules and making his coffee three times a day, we're just a small part of my everyday routine.

Chapter 1 Away from the City
Arianna was now certain that she was completely drunk. She saw an object in double and her eyes were dizzy. She belched and took the last drop of the alcohol, gulping it down.
The club house was noisy and the dancers were having fun. But what mattered to Arianna was completely different. She hadn't come for fun seeking but to forget her misery and heartbreak.
She was supposed to be a bride the next morning, walking down the aisle with her heartthrob and best friend for five years. They had anticipated that day to come but in less than twenty four hours, the hope of seeing that day come true was trashed.
The memory of what she saw played itself again in her head "... oh my days!... fuck me harder Ethan baby...oh...good...faster...oh...yeah... I love you Ethan…"
Arianna shook her head as if by doing so, the memory of it would disappear. She cleaned the tears off her face. Why can't she just forget, she's been in the club house for a few hours now, trying to forget that ugly scene she stumbled upon.
But the more she tried to forget, the harder it became. She tried standing up but ended up sinking back into her seat. She summoned up her strength and stood up.
She needed to visit the washroom and after that, find a way of helping herself out of the club house. Her legs were heavy and as she walked, her knees wobbled.
Just before turning, she sighted a tall figure walking into one of the rooms and she followed. She went in just before he shut the door and rested her back on the door.
